With particular expertise in teaching communication and collaborative negotiation skills, Catherine has made a marked difference to the organisations she has worked with. She empowers teams and managers to adopt constructive styles that support harmony, productivity and progress in the workplace. Catherine has a particular interest in Challenging Behaviours and High Conflict Personalities within the workplace.
As a qualified, International Certified Mediator and Nationally Accredited Advanced Mediator, Catherine is able to support parties to more fully understand their dispute and work towards agreements for future workplace behaviours and interactions.
Catherine is also Senior Experienced Workplace Investigator and a member of the international Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI). She particularly enjoys conducting investigations into complex and/or high risk cases or matters involving Senior Executives or Board Members.
With a background in education, Catherine is also a sought after Workplace Trainer. Her engaging style means Catherine is consistently asked to present at conferences and she is now considered an Authority Speaker.
Catherine brings an holistic, mindful and curious approach such that she is able to recognise systemic issues underlying workplace issues and advise on employee relations, human resources, leadership and other factors that impact on harmony, culture and performance.
Always endeavouring to improve her skills, Catherine has attained several relevant qualifications including: Master of Workplace and Employment Law (Monash University, Faculty of Law), Master of Conflict Resolution (La Trobe University, Faculty of Law), Certificate in Professional Coaching (Coachcorp Pty Ltd), Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training and a Bachelor of Education (Secondary – Maths & Physics, Deakin University). She is also an Accredited LSI/GSI Practitioner (Human Synergistics®), Conflict Dynamics Profile® Practitioner (Leadership Development Institute, Eckerd College), Team Management Profile® and Strategic Team Development Profile® Practitioner (Team Management Systems®) and an Accredited Advanced Mediator (LEADR Australia). Catherine is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Catherine has Extended Level 2 Accreditation in DISC, a psychometric assessment tool used for career and leadership development.
Catherine is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors Course and the Centre for Ethical Leadership (CEL) Ethical Leadership Course and works with Board members and Senior Executives to facilitate strategy discussions, address cultural concerns and assist their growth as high performing individuals leading high performing teams.
These qualifications, along with extensive experience, have led Catherine to be appointed to a number of Board positions. These roles have ranged in industry sector and type from sport to NFP Community Health including a Victorian Government appointment. Catherine has also been appointed as a Councilor for the Australian HR Institute (AHRI).
Whilst earning her Master Degree of Conflict Resolution, Catherine was awarded the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence.
Catherine draws on her experience in international sport as both a netball player (Australian Netball Team – 1988, Vice Captain Aus U/21 Team – 1986) and Level 3 Nationally Accredited Coach (Head Coach – Malaysian Commonwealth Games Netball Squad – 1995/96, Mentor Coach, Malaysian Team, World Championships 2011, Singapore) and brings this facet of coaching, teamwork and excellence to her work in the corporate arena. Her contribution to sport in Australia has led to her being a recipient of the Australian Sports Medal Award (for services to sport).
